When you run a geolocation test, we collect and store the following data:
We process data under legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f) / LGPD Art. 10). IP Accuracy is a public benchmarking tool. Processing IP geolocation data is necessary to fulfill the core purpose of comparing provider accuracy.
Users take affirmative action to participate — navigating to the test page and granting browser geolocation permission — which constitutes informed, voluntary participation in the benchmark.
Your IP address is sent to the following geolocation providers when you run a test: MaxMind GeoLite2, IPInfo, ipapi.is, IPGeolocation, IP2Location, IPRegistry, Pangea IP Intel, IPLocate, BigDataCloud, and ipdata.
We also use the following services:
Each third-party service is subject to its own privacy policy. We send only the minimum data required for each service to function.
Submissions and provider results are retained for as long as necessary to support long-term accuracy trend analysis. IP Accuracy uses only functional cookies and storage:
We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies. Because only functional cookies are used, a consent management platform is not required under the ePrivacy Directive.
IP Accuracy is hosted on Cloudflare's global network. Your data may be processed in data centers outside your country of residence. Geolocation providers are located in various jurisdictions. By using the service, you acknowledge that your IP address will be transmitted to these providers as part of the benchmarking process.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted by updating the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
